Flying Monsters 3D with David Attenborough, an Atlantic Productions film with Sky 3D, has become the first stereoscopic 3D programme to win a BAFTA award. Last night’s award ceremony saw leading naturalist Sir David Attenborough and Flying Monsters 3D producer Anthony Geffen take to the stage to accept the prestigious trophy for best Specialist Factual programme.

Anthony Geffen remarked that David Attenborough, who presents the film, is the first and only person to have won BAFTA awards for programmes filmed in black and white, colour, high definition and now 3D.

Flying Monsters 3D was up against More 4/ Lone Star Productions’ Alan Bennett and the Habit of Art‘, the BBC One series Human Planet and BBC Two’s documentary Pompeii: Life and Death in a Roman Town.
